Future Energy Solutions Ltd is an energy training academy, one of only four companies in the UK who deliver Smart Meter Installers training.

Smart Meters are a new kind of energy meter which replace existing meters and work by communicating directly with the energy supplier. They will ensure that in the future, all energy bills will be based on real-time readings, rather than estimates, and customers will be able to accurately track their energy usage.

Our state-of-the art training centre was unveiled on 10th December 2013 by Councillor Nick Forbes, Leader of Newcastle City Council, with a further successful open day and networking event taking place on 25th March 2014, attended by potential trainees plus key members of the energy industry.

The training centre is the first of its kind to open in the north east of England and is expected to create new employment for up to 2000 trained engineers over the next five years, with six new jobs initially. It is expected that up to 400 candidates will be trained at the centre each year.

We are looking to establish a partnership network of training centres across the UK, providing full geographical coverage for national customers.

“This vocational training is very relevant and important at this time when plans are being put in place by energy suppliers to ensure that smart meters are installed in every house by 2020. We are delighted to be opening the centre in Newcastle which will support the training of smart meter engineers from the North East, Yorkshire and Scotland.”
